Charuni registered her law practice under the name of C G Associates in December 2006 and is its sole proprietor and Senior Attorney. She holds a Diploma in Shipping Law and Practice, Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) (Honours) from the University of Colombo, a Master’s Degree in Commercial Law (LLM) from the University of Northumbria, UK and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), University of Sri Jayewardenepura. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute, UK and a Chartered Governance Professional. On a lighter note, she is a Strong Nation instructor licensed by Zumba Fitness LLC of USA and a Group Fitness Instructor certified by the Athletics and Fitness Association of America.
After enrolling as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 1998, Charuni received her initial training and functioned as an Attorney until mid-2000 at the leading law firm Nithya Partners. Commercial and financial law were her primary areas of involvement at Nithya Partners. She next worked at Fitch Ratings Lanka Limited, the credit rating agency as the lead analyst of the structured finance ratings team and also functioned as the Company's General Counsel until she decided to venture on her own in mid- 2002.
She considers integrity as her topmost virtue and this quality resulted in her being appointed the Company Secretary of Seylan Bank PLC when the Bank was in crisis in 2009 and the new Board of Directors was appointed by the Monetary Board. She has also been the Company Secretary of Transparency International Sri Lanka since its inception. She was the Consultant to the Secretarial Dept. of Varners International (Pvt.) Ltd. from 2013 to 2018. Charuni is also the legal consultant of C T Land Development PLC, Pership Group of Companies, Upali Group of Companies and EPIC Technology Group.
Her expertise in the areas of corporate and commercial law and the work ethic of the firm resulted in a clientele of blue chip companies, other limited liability companies, non-governmental organizations and regional organizations, over the years. A sister company by the name of C G Corporate Consultants (Pvt.) Ltd. (PV 60879) was floated in 2007 to cope with the demand for Company Secretarial services which has a clientele of 130+ companies as at date. Charuni’s areas of practice include conveyancing and intellectual property as well.

Usha is a senior professional with over twenty years of experience. Having started her career with two of the Big 4 accountancy firms, she moved on to hold senior positions both in the public and private sectors, embracing diverse responsibilities. Some of the organizations that she worked for are; the local subsidiary of the UK based Balfour Beatty Engineering Services, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Finance, a project implemented by DAI Global and financed by the USAID and John Wilson Partners, Attorneys-at- Law.
Before joining C G Associates, she functioned as the Group Head of Legal/Chief Legal Officer for an investment by a multinational company based in the UK.
She is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, an Attorney-at- Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka and has an LLM in Corporate and Commercial Law from Queen Mary, University of London.
Her expertise are in the areas of corporate and commercial law, investment law, employment law, and tax law. In the past, she has provided advice to clients (mainly foreign investors) on complicated legal matters.
